Social Research Desk (Educational Sociology Studies Centre)

The Desk on Social Science Research is formed so as to promote the research activities among Teacher Trainees through the practice of strategies like surveys, observation and literature reviews. The College Library comprises varied titles of Social Science Research Methodology. The Post Graduate Department of the Institution is intensively engaged in the different modes of Educational Research Practices among teacher trainees. The Social Research Desk activities also help students to achieve the curricular objectives of reading and reflecting on texts.

Educational Discourse Colloquium (Educational Philosophy Deliverance Space)

An actively functioning Educational Discourse Colloquium is there in the college for accelerating the sessions for discussions, debates and documenting discourses related with Educational Philosophy. The Student-teachers are offered with both theory and practices on Philosophical discussions related to the field of Education. Application of varied educational philosophies is the one of the major concerns of our Educational Discourse Colloquium. In other words, it is purely an Educational Philosophy Deliverance Space. Educational Psychology Chamber includes assorted activity sessions nurturing the psychological process of understanding self.

Psychologist's Chamber (Educational Psychology Applications Arena)

Educational Psychology is one of the key themes and areas of interest in the arena of Teacher Education. The Psychologists' Chamber of the Institution acts as a platform for the Teacher Trainees on creating cognitional atmospheres with experimentations, analysis and interpretations of Educational Psychology themes. This Educational Psychology Application wing functions with a perception for future practices related to classroom problems, developmental psychology and personality studies.

e-learning Consortium

Teacher Education programs today is majorly e-mediated. The e-learning consortium of the College is programmed in such a manner to improve the e-skills among Teacher Trainees for the smart classrooms of future. The consortium arranges varied workshops, awareness seminars and lectures on areas related to Educational Cyber contents. The e-learning Consortium is also a space for teacher trainees which enables them critically understand the Information and Communication Technology in its magnitude.

Yoga Conclave

The college is so concerned with the affective dimensions enriching quality of Teacher Education scenario. The Yoga Conclave is constituted in order to bring forth the holistic progress among the Teacher Trainees. Consistent Yoga practice ensures a healthy mind, body and soul among the students.

Theatre and Performing Arts Compartment

The revised Teacher Education and Training policies of our nation are designed with vital care and concern regarding connecting Teaching with various forms of Theatre and Performing Arts. With this purpose in mind the Teacher Training Curriculum has been proposed in such a manner incorporating both theory and practices in the area of Theatre and Performing Arts. The Theatre and Performing Arts Compartment of the College serves fulfilling the curricular expectations. The place of music in our lives is manifold as it is considered as symphony that unites entertainment, cognition, relaxation, therapy, empowerment and salvation. Revised teacher education policies and curriculum have laid stress on the importance of music. Arts Club of SNM Training College is composed of wide-ranging opportunities for the students to understand the art form. Musical instruments belonging to string, percussion, brass and wind categories are there for students use and practice. The members of Arts Club of SNM Training College wholeheartedly participate in Sree Narayana Managalam Temple festivals including utsavam and navarathri Celebrations.

Heritage Study Centre

Awareness about one's own heritage is the other side of the education. In one sense, teachers of a society are the academic mediators and the curricular transistors of areas of interest related to Heritage studies. The College has established a Heritage Study Centre to promote inclination and orientation among the Teacher Trainees towards our heritage.

SAVE (Sree Narayana Academy of Value Education)

Values are caught, not taught. Bookish knowledge alone doesn’t lead to wisdom. The vision and mission of our Institution reverberates the thoughts of the great Sree Narayana Guru, who has led a generation to enlightenment through education and unification. SAVE (Sree Narayana Academy of Value Education) is a student's society in the institution for inculcating Value Education through various activities including seminars, conferences and discussions.

LEAD (Learning Disability Discussion Forum)

Learning Disabilities among school students is one of the constant instructional problems faced in today's classrooms. Psychologists have conducted wide researches in this area and have evolved various measures to counterfeit this classroom challenge for a contemporary teacher. The Learning Disability Forum functioning in the College conducts discussions, awareness programmes, workshops and action researches on the themes related to Learning Disability in order to equip the Teacher Trainees with the proficiency to face the classroom situations.

SPEAK (Communicative English Corner)

Communication is the primary function of any language. Every teacher is expected to be a good orator. English occupies the status of prime International Language, and so effective English Communication is mandatory in every spheres of life in this global village. The consortium SPEAK in SNM Training College is planned and designed so as to enhance the English speaking skills among teacher trainees.

ACT (Action Research in Teaching)

Every classroom can be termed as a miniature of life and the world at large. The classroom is an amalgam of problems and hazards just like those we find in the society. ACT or Action Research in Teaching is a cognitive open space which addresses the classrooms problems faced by Teacher Trainees. On behalf of the ACT, the student teachers of SNM Training College are provided the equivalent quality training usually rendered to the practicing teachers in schools.

MIRROR (Reflective Journaling Platform)

To make teaching more efficient, it requires self reflection and analysis in a magnified manner. The MIRROR holds the reflection of one's own teaching at regular intervals to enhance the quality of teacher training delivered in the institution. The present day teacher education programmes emphasize importance of reflective practices and insightful strategies like journaling. MIRROR (Reflective Journaling Platform) presents a room for the Teacher Trainees to reflect, assess and evaluate themselves in systematic ways.

Social Extension Activity Wing

The Teaching Profession itself is a synonym for social service. As such it is the need of hour to inculcate in the Teacher Trainees a mind equipped with dedication, commitment and unending enthusiasm to serve the society. The Social Extension Activity Wing in the college encourages and leads services offered by the Institution for the uplifting of the downtrodden segments in the society. The programmes like old age and poor home visits, charity endowments, free instructional services and other modes of donations are the highlights of our Social Extension Activity Wing.

SC/ST Monitoring Cell

The institution lays great emphasis on bringing the marginalized sections in the society to the forefront and for the upliftment of the backward classes in the humanity. Counseling Centre

Counseling is the part and parcel of the teaching profession. An ideal teacher helps students to explore new ideas about their lives, their school work and their relationship with others. The college structures with a well functioning centre providing counseling for the prospective teachers. The mental scaffolding from this endeavor also helps the Teacher Trainees as training for their classroom counseling in future.

Women's Cell

The admission history of teacher education sector reveals that majority enrolled are women. Women's Cell of the college is installed with an enduring purpose of creating awareness, protecting rights and leading to excellence the women Teacher Trainees. The Women's forum leads them to a classy world filled with sufficient life skills and vocational opportunities as a female. Legal awareness sessions leaded by prominent lawyers on human and women's rights are convened regularly on behalf of Women's Cell

Grievance Redressing Cell

No process in the world is problem free and devoid of complaints. In the field of education, especially that of Teacher Education, innumerable innovations and experimentations is taking place. Grievances are common in the sector of Teacher Education and institutional spaces of Teacher Training Centers. The college has constituted a Grievance Redressing Cell for addressing the complaints and needs of its stakeholders. An open forum for students to present orally their grievances and needs is being arranged under the banner of Grievance Redressing Cell. The institution also manages redressing and suggestion boxes, student's helpline call-point and frequent meetings are for rectifying the grievances.l

Film Club

Film is a popular medium, powerful art and thriving performance, that occupies a pivotal place in today's classrooms. It serves a dual purpose of information, entertainment and infotainment. Even a newly coined term "moviecation" has gained momentum especially in language and literature classrooms. Bearing this in mind SNM Training College has an actively functioning Film Club which arranges film festivals, workshops, inter-collegiate and inter-institutional film exhibitions, short film makings, discussions, meet the director, felicitating film personalities and review sessions. The Film Club of SNM Training College has also implemented a daily programme entitled "Daily Show" during noon intervals through which the students review shorts films with educational and social relevance. The consortium also promotes a media culture of viewing films of social and educational relevance in theatres during the initial days of release.l

Anti-ragging Cell

Ragging is a social menace prevalent in the campuses. An Anti-ragging cell is constituted in the college as per the norms and communications from the government to eradicate the evil practice of ragging. The Anti-ragging Cell is constituted with the Head of the institution, Member from Civil and Police Administration, Local Media, NGO member, Teacher Co-ordinator, PTA member, Non-teaching staff member and other student representatives.

Ethics Committee

Ethics is defined as the moral principles governing a person's behavior and his conduct. It is essential to uphold values. It includes the basic conduct and fundamental principles of decent human manners. Ethics Committee functions in the college for monitoring the values in the conducts and processes..

Documentation Desk

Documentation Desk of the college performs as a platform for recording digitally and non-digitally the programmes organized as part of academic and non-academic schedules. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell makes use of the documentations and regular updates on various activities of the institution. Documentation Desk renders numerous spaces for the students to conceive the necessary journaling skills.

Publication Wing

Literary and social discourses are properly showcased and archived by the Publication Wing of the College. Various forms and issues of publications are prevalent through the Publication Wing of the institution. Documentation Desk and Publication Wing are functioning in an interrelated manner. Eco Club

Preservation of nature is the need of the hour as we are moving through alarming phases of climatic variations, natural calamities due to deforestation and anti-natural brutalities of men. Environmental activities on current issues like destruction of nature, over population, over consumption of natural resources, environmental imbalances, mismanagement of wastes, climate change and grabbing of resourceful lands are all brought together under the Eco Club functioning in SNM Training College. Environment Day celebration, discussions, debates, seminars, awareness programmes, exhibitions and field visits are some of the activities conducted by the Eco or Nature Club. The Eco Club also maintains a Herbal Garden with a good range of herbs and medicinal plants collected from various sources. The College Garden comprising innumerable flowering plants, rock garden plants, leaf plants, shade plants, ground covers, shrubs, and varieties of orchids is also maintained under the green roof of Eco Club.

Science Club

Every teacher is expected to be a man of science. The Science Club functioning in our college provides varied opportunities and experiences for Teacher Trainees to enhance the scientific attitude and creative abilities. Science related exhibitions, improvisations and demonstrations, scientific journaling, workshops, science seminars, publications, photography events, industry visits, observational field-trips, interviews with scientists and scholars, visual display managements, discourses on science in daily life etc. are the major interventions of the Science Club.

Mathematics Club

Mathematics is the crust of the universe, as we cannot imagine a world devoid of numerical expressions. The institution has a Mathematics Club coined with objectives of recognizing the kaleidoscopic potentials of mathematics that filters through the world around us, appreciate its usefulness, power and beauty, enjoy mathematics in its all pervading aesthetics and savor the unending progressions related to mathematical applications. The club organizes competitions, quiz programmes, resource material preparations for school students, publications and social extension activities like remedial teaching.

Commerce Club

In one sense the history of Commerce is termed as the history of mankind. Commerce can be defined as an organized system for the exchange of goods. In the current world, it changes the fate and genius of nations. Commerce Education is a living discipline which charter new routes to the services and aspirations of nations. Commerce Club in the college is formulated to inculcate attitudes, skills and motivation to learn business subjects. Debates, discussions, quiz programmes, exhibitions, publications and familiarizations of modern commercial practices are organized as part of the club activities.

Literary Club

Literature is the documentation of our life in its multi-facets. The Literary Club of the college focuses on enhancing the creative talents of the teacher trainees through a range of activities. It is a platform for unleashing the inner capabilities and imaginative expressions of the students. Creative writings, media studies, art/literature reviews and script writing for screens and stages are some of the arenas included in imaginative outpouring among students. The Literature Club of SNM Training College organizes ample episodes for the teacher trainees to enrich their oral and written flairs. Organization of literary workshops, interviews, magazines, field trips, seminars, symposiums, quiz, etc. are the major events organized by the Literary Club.

Social Science Club

Social Science is the subject that is related to the origin, organization and the development of human society especially to man and his association with other men. Developing the sense of inter dependence of man and his environment, developing life skills, promoting socio-personal qualities, understanding the egalitarian social system and instilling in the student teachers qualities of critical and reflective thinking, observation and problem solving are the vital visions of the Social Science Club. The Social Science Club actualizes programmes, field trips, celebrating days of social relevance, cultural events, discussions, debates, seminars, publications, quiz competitions and journaling.

Tourism Club

Tourism plays a major part in the transmission of cultures across the world. Tourism is more defined in its social, cultural and economic spaces. In the field of education, Tourism has a place of sensing new experiences. SNM Training College has constituted a Tourism Club as an initiation of the governmental agency, District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC). It has been functioning with special objectives of exploring possibilities of local level/ domestic tourism, conducting studies on tourism destinations, documenting history of tourism spots, conducting tourism related survey and organizing interview sessions like "meet the guest" with foreigners. The tourism club members participate in district and state level camps organized by DTPC and KTDC. It is also a supplementing factor that our institution is situated in the crux of Muziris project by Kerala Council for Historical Research (KCHR).

Placement Cell

The process of education has manifold aims and objectives. Vocational aim is a prominent one. Placement cell of the institution helps to create awareness among the teacher trainees their career options and guide them in developing career skills. The cell also helps to organize activities on career planning to achieve the required career objectives and placements. The placement cell acts as a mediating space between students, alumni and employers. Cararia Niche is a displayed spectrum maintained by the placement cell incorporating the recent advertisements in different media. Collaboration with different educational and vocational agencies helps the cell to organize orientation and placement programmes.

Equal Opportunity Cell

The Equal Opportunity Cell of the college ensures opportunities for students from different communal, regional and religious divisions. The opportunity cell helps the teacher trainees to access our pedagogical and extra-curricular resources and infrastructure with safety and dignity. It also helps in promoting diversity and inclusivity within and without the institutional activity premises. The cell is functioning as per the norms and directions of the governmental agencies.

SUPW or Socially Useful Productive Work is such an enterprise which includes endeavors with potentials of community oriented, constructive and fruitful outputs in the form of service or products. Campus cleaning and beautification, handicrafts making, improvised utensils, indigenous cookery etc. are some of the activities organized as SUPW.

Commencement of SNM Training College dates back to 20-06-1960. The institution holds pride in its thousands of old student members who have made their marks of excellence in various fields of activities both nationally and internationally. Every year on the second Saturday of the month of January, the alumni meet is held in the college. Apart from this various batches of old students hold occasional gatherings during other times of year. The congregation serves as a uniting platform and discussion forum of alumni from across the world.

Health & Fitness Club.

Mahatma Gandhi says "It is health that is wealth and not pieces of gold and silver". The statement reveals the importance of health and fitness in our day today life. Health and physical education is a vital instructional area in teacher education scenario. The Health & Fitness Club is installed in the college to ensure ample opportunities for teacher trainees to be accustomed with theory and practices of Health and Physical Education. As part of the Health & Fitness Club there is a hoard of well equipped and well maintained fitness instruments. The fitness tools are used extensively by both the students and staff of the institution. Yoga Conclave of the college supplements the health and fitness activities as catalyzing component for curricular transactions related to physical education.

Cultural Activities Club

Education is defined as a continuous process meant to develop every child's character, personality and culture. The institution has a Cultural Activities Club that is functioning with a broad perspective of unleashing the innate talents of each teacher trainees through incessant participations in co-curricular and extra-curricular events. As part of activities of the club, teacher trainees of the institution are given support and motivation to indulge in various cultural activities organized in and outside the college.
