SNM Training College is a recognized Research Centre of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The college offers Ph.D program in Education. Ph.D program is offered by strictly following the Mahatma Gandhi University Ph.D regulations 2016, and in accordance with the UGC (minimum standards and procedure for award of M.Phil/Ph.D degrees) regulations, 2016. The standards and procedures for registration, research and award of Ph.D degree are as per the above regulation of the University.
Notification for Ph.D registration shall be issued by the Registrar of the university every year. Candidates seeking admission shall apply to the University for registration by filling the necessary application form for registration of Ph.D program. They may suggest the name and official address of the prospective Supervising teacher in the application form.
Master's degree in Education with 55% marks in aggregate. Other provisions as per MG University regulations 2016
Admission of Ph.D students is based on Entrance test conducted by the university/NET score obtained in the NET conducted by the UGC from 2024-25 onwards
The applications received for registration shall be scrutinized by the Doctoral committee constituted by the university for this purpose in each subject. Eligible candidates will be interviewed by the Committee and the list of recommended candidates with respective names of Supervising teachers will be forwarded to the Registrar along with their applications.
Selected candidates shall join the Research Centre immediately after obtaining the registration orders from the university. They shall attend the Course work*(see below) offered by the Centre. The effective date of registration shall be the date of commencement of course work in the Centre. They shall pay the fee to the University and the concerned Centre as fixed by the university from time to time.
Research scholars have to successfully complete the course work of Ph.D program for Education, framed by School of Pedagogical Sciences, MG University. The duration of the program is one semester or six months. It includes 4 courses and carries 14 credits. Based on performance of students and assessment by the Supervising teacher, letter grades are given to the successful candidates.
The college has a Research Advisory Committee. It shall periodically review the progress of research work of the research scholars
The duration of the Ph.D Program is three years.
Besides course work, paper publication & presentations, pre-Ph.D presentation, Open defence & Public viva- voce are mandatory provisions for award of Ph.D Degree.
